… or is it always the case? Okay make that, pretty much.
Below are the pink cakes my daughters have had during their birthdays (one in April and the other is in June) this year. Normally, we let them choose what they want (design and color) for their birthday cakes and surprisingly it always turned out to be PINK most of the time regardless.
Why do girls like the color Pink, by the way?
Some says it’s a cultural phenomenon. Girls learn to like pink because their parents give then anything pink – from clothing articles, accessories to pink toys. While others believe there may be some biological basis for why girls prefer pink or at least more reddish colors than boys although I refused to dig further on that.
For me, it’s just simply all about stereotyping and gender sensitivity (that pink is for girls and blue is for boys). Period!
Oh… and here’s in case you need to recollect the meaning of the color PINK…
According to Wikipedia:
- Pink is the color for embarrassment, because of the pink blushing cheeks.
- Pink is the color for the female gender. (See? Even Wikipedia can’t any more agree! LOL)
- Pink means one is in a good condition of health. That is why there is an idiom called “in the pink”– example: These animals are in the pink today.
What about you? How do you like PINK?
